Design Your Day at Thunderbird

No Hangry Campers Here!

Meals start before campers even step foot inside the lodge. Outside of the lodge, girls socialize and catch up with their friends. Inside, campers head to their cabin’s designated table and wait for the quote of the day. Then the meal begins, table set, food waiting. Our rule is simple: no one leaves the lodge hungry. During meals the lodge is filled with singing and laughter. Girls will sing their cabin songs, and do call in response to other tables. Seconds are always called, pb&js and turkey and cheese sandwiches are always up at the window, and if neither sound appealing, a counselor heads up into the kitchen until they find something that works.

When the meal wraps up, campers do what we call “stacking and racking”, a camp cleanup method. Once tables are cleared, announcements bring the whole lodge together one more time where activity updates, pro-sports scores and all camp songs are sung. On a rotating basis, cabins take on table waiting, arriving a few minutes early to each meal period that day to set up, and clean up. Here, everyone pitches in, but with a little extra dancing and singing along the way.

Evening Programming: The Day Isn't Over Yet!

Picture this: your daughter pushes back from the table after an incredible dinner, exchanging laughs with her friends as they spill out of the lodge and wander back towards their village. Once they arrive at their village, the village director gathers everyone together, announcing the evening’s attire, and just like that, the night comes alive, once more. The energy is contagious, the laughter is loud, and the adventure is very much still going.

What’s on the agenda? Movie night, village fires, dance parties, counselor hunt and JL hunt, stingers, all camp swims, scavenger hunts, Dutch auction, skits, lip syncs, trivia night, artists night, talent shows and that’s just barely scratching the surface! From 7:30 to 8:45 every evening, your daughter will be part of something that she’ll be talking about for years. We believe kids need both structure and space, and evening programming delivers exactly that. Team-based activities forge real friendships, and when the whole reason you’re playing is simply to have fun, those bonds form fast and run deep. There’s no pressure to be the best. There’s only one rule: give it everything you’ve got.

The rest? We’ll take care of it.
