What You Want to Know About Thunderbird for Boys

Where will I be living?

Walk into a camp “village” and you will find boys playing box hockey, a game of tetherball or ping pong. Cabins nestled around the village consist of six or eight cabinmates of the same age with three counselors living in separate quarters within the cabin. A cluster of cabins makes up a “village” and each village has a Head Counselor, whose only job is to make sure that life in the village is running smoothly. There’s also a central washhouse in each village. Inside the cabin, you will find bunk beds and personal cubbies for your clothes and other belongings. Friendships begin in the cabins as you live in close quarters with other boys. There’s nothing like the experience of living with your friends!

What are counselors like?

Counselors are the best! You will find that they quickly become like a big brother to you who you can count on to help you with anything and everything you need. Counselors are generally high school or college students who are passionate about working with kids, and about Thunderbird. Counselors come from all across the country and the world. Want to learn to talk like someone from Australia? Your counselor can help! You just might be a future T-bird counselor yourself.

What’s the food like?

The bell rings to signal it’s time for breakfast. Roll out of bed and head to the lodge. Three times a day you will visit the lodge for breakfast, lunch and dinner where you’ll eat meals family style with your cabin. There are lots of delicious options. See below for a sample menu.
