Your salary is negotiable and includes room/board and laundry, plus travel allowance. Add on for certifications. We can certify you for First-Aid, CPR, Lifeguard, WSI and Wilderness First-Aid. Internship supervision may be available for school credit. Dates of employment: June 11 through August 13, with optional start on June 5 and end on August 22. This includes eight days of training.

Certifications we are looking for:

INTERNSHIP SUPERVISION AVAILABLE
CABIN COUNSELORS/ACTIVITY INSTRUCTORS:
Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Must be in your freshman year of college. The position includes responsibility for one cabin group of eight to ten girls or boys (with the help of 2-3 other counselors) for one eight-week period or two four-week periods. The position also includes responsibility to instruct (or share instruction) in one or more of the above listed activities.

SPECIALISTS
ARTS AND CRAFTS SPECIALIST:
Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Experience as an art teacher, industrial arts teacher, or student in either preferred. Supervise an arts and crafts facility, purchase supplies, organize and develop projects, and supervise staff assigned to assist. Our crafts program reflect the interests, skills and creativity of our craft specialists and others on staff, but focus on developing the creativity of our campers. Emphasis on folkcrafts.
HORSEBACK SPECIALISTS (One for English and one for Western):
Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Responsibility for care and maintenance of fifteen to twenty horses, teaching horse care, ring and trail instruction for a beginner to advanced levels and overnight trips. Western specialist needed at our boys camp; Western and English Hunt Seat specialists needed at our girls camp. Excellent internship position.
POTTERY SPECIALIST
Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Responsibility includes thorough knowledge of the various techniques of working with clay (construction through glazing) and previous experience using a potters wheel. Prior experience teaching construction, firing and glazing preferred.
BICYCLING SPECIALIST
Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Responsibilities include maintenance of camp bicycles, and equipment, teaching basic maintenance and leading one to 8 day road and mountain bike trips. Experience with maintenance and riding experience preferred.
SAILING SPECIALIST:
Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Prefer Lifeguard Certification (cert. available). Responsible for care and maintenance of fleet which includes: C-Scows, X-Crafts, M-16’s, Phantoms, and other boats; daily instructional program which ranges from basic beginners instruction to extended Lake Superior trips utilizing chartered boats and skippers; organization and participation in regattas; accurate attendance and progress records. Directly responsible to waterfront director. Also seeking instructors to assist sailing specialist.
RIFLERY SPECIALIST:
Must be Camp Riflery Instructor Certified or willing to become certified. Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Responsibility for a fourteen-point .22 calibre rifle range, instruction, and rifle team coaching. Position includes responsibility for maintaining the program safety system and accurate attendance and progress records.
UNIT DIRECTORS / HEAD COUNSELORS:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Responsible for on-going supervision (and program leadership) of a unit consisting of four to seven cabins (40-60 campers and all related staff). Experience with staff supervision and direct leadership of children in outdoor recreation/camp activities required. Excellent Internship Position.
PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Responsible for on-going supervision of all activity areas, and instructors; organize daily activity assignments for staff, monitor daily instruction, coordinate with all aspects of program and assist in planning and supervision of all-camp special activity days. Experience with staff supervision and direct leadership of children in outdoor recreation/camp activities required. Excellent Internship Position.
SPECIAL PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Responsible for coordination and supervision of all-camp special activity days, non-denominational services and weekly camp newspaper. Plans several weekly all-camp evening activities and other special programs throughout the summer. Individual needs to be creative, previous special-event and child experience preferred but not necessary. Excellent Internship Position.
WATERFRONT DIRECTOR:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard/WSI certification (or be willing to become certified). Responsible for the supervision of entire waterfront and staff (swimming activities, canoeing, sailing, boardsailing, fishing, kayaking and water-skiing). Supervises waterfront safety system. Assist in the responsible for care and maintenance of waterfront. Prior experience on a camp waterfront preferred.
ASSISTANT WATERFRONT DIRECTOR
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard/WSI certification (or be willing to become certified). Assist in the supervision of entire waterfront and staff (swimming activities, canoeing, sailing, boardsailing, fishing, kayaking and water-skiing). Supervises waterfront safety system. Assist in the responsible for care and maintenance of waterfront. Prior experience on a camp waterfront preferred.
SWIM DIRECTOR:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard/WSI certification (or be willing to become certified). Responsible for supervision and organization of entire swim program, staff of instructors and maintenance of facility. Prior supervisory experience of pool or lake swim program (all levels) required. Also, WSIs for swim class instruction.
CAMP NURSE:
Must be licensed R.N. or licensed L.P.N. Salary is commensurate with skill and experience. Supervise, under the MD’s direction, the camp medical safety system. Responsibility for six-bed infirmary and clinic. (Camp will pay for your license to practice in Minnesota.)
KITCHEN PERSONNEL, MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND DRIVER:
Minimum-wage salary/ room and board. KITCHEN: Assist with kitchen operations, food preparation, dishwashing and cleanup. MAINTENANCE: Work with caretaker to prepare camp and maintain it throughout the summer. Job includes minor repairs, cleanup and trash pickup, plus odd jobs. DRIVER: Makes trips to town (12 miles one way) each working day to purchase supplies.
OFFICE PERSONNEL:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Several positions available. Most positions require average or above typing skills, with IBM compatible computer knowledge. Positions include: Operation of camp store, Bookkeeping and handling camper/staff cash accounts; Extensive typing and telephone answering. Office personnel also relate to campers, staff, and parents in the office and on the telephone, therefore, must enjoy meeting and working with people.
TRIP ASSISTANT
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Responsible for packing out food and equipment, as well as inventory maintenance. Trips range from overnights, to extensive canoe, backpack and bicycle trips. Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of camp vehicles. Experience with wilderness tripping and equipment use, and some knowledge of vehicle care/maintenance preferred. Also, must have valid license and good driving record.
CAMP DIETICIAN (FOOD SERVICE MANAGER):
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Food service manager or dietician with cafeteria or camp experience preferred. Responsible for menu planning, food purchasing, supervision and coordination of ten-person crew in food preparation and dishwashing. Feeding kitchen facilities. Separate positions available.
HEAD COOK:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Responsible for over-all food preparation and supervision of two assistants. Up-to-date kitchen facility; family-style serving; knowledge of and experience with quantity food preparation and equipment use. Quality food production required. Serving 250 at girls camp and 350 at boys camp. Separate positions.
ASSISTANT COOK:
Salary is commensurate with skills and experience. Assist Head Cook with food preparation; some baking and salad preparation; clean-up and pot washing. Will train, but some quantity food preparation experience preferred
